Childhood is one of the most special and memorable phase of our lives and to celebrate this spirit of childhood, Presidium Palam Vihar conducted a special assembly to celebrate Children’s Day. To honour Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, a speech was presented telling students about our first Prime Minister and his love for children. Teachers organised various activities and performances to make this day a memorable one for the students.

DIWALI FESTIVITIES FILLS THE AIR WITH CELEBRATORY FERVOUR

Diwali is a festival of lights and every Indian celebrates it with joy. During this festival, people light up their houses and shops. They worship Lord  Ganesha for welfare and prosperity and Goddess Lakshmi for wealth and wisdom. Diwali spirit reigned the premises of Presidium Palam Vihar and was ushered in by a special assembly presented by the students of  grades 7 & 8. The theme was presented beautifully, through a scene depicting the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. It was followed by an beautiful dance performance. The assembly culminated with the message of celebrating a pollution free Diwali. A special club activity of Diya Decoration was also conducted for the students of grades 1 to 3. Students pasted mirrors and stars to make diyas more beautiful and displayed their creative expression in the process.

'SAY NO TO CRACKERS' RALLY ORGANISED AMIDST DIWALI CELEBRATIONS

Diwali is the celebration of spreading love and happiness. With an aim to sensitize their friends and teachers about the ill effects of celebrating Diwali without burning of firecrackers, the young leaders of tomorrow organised a rally on the theme of ‘saying no to crackers’. Slogans of celebrating an eco-friendly Diwali were echoing through the streets. The participation of the young Presidians was overwhelming. The rally was organised with an aim to create awareness regarding the hazardous level of air pollution and environmental degradation that is caused by crackers.

WORLD FOOD DAY: PRESIDIANS PLEDGE TO ERADICATE WORLD HUNGER

‘The preparation of good food is merely another expression of art, one of the joys of civilised living.’ World Food Day is a day of action, dedicated to tackling global hunger. Held annually on 16th October, people from around the world come together to declare their commitment to eradicate world hunger. At Presidium Palam Vihar, the students of grade 4 celebrated World Food Day through a special assembly to promote awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure food security and nutritious diets for all. The assembly put forth the message that food is a basic and fundamental human right encouraging the students to not waste food with the students pledging to do their bit in eradicating world hunger.

Presidians recently organised a special assembly on the occasion of World Pasta Day. World Pasta Day was brought into existence as part of the World Pasta Congress on the 25th of October in 1995 with an aim of spreading knowledge of the cuisine that binds the whole world. The day is celebrated to promote the cultural and culinary importance of the dish. Everything from encouraging consumers to try new pasta’s to providing important information to institutions and promotions of this increasingly popular food. Presidians educated everyone about this special day dedicated to good food and presented a mesmerising spectacle which we all will cherish for a long time.

SHOW & TELL: PRESIDIANS DEVELOP SOCIAL AND PUBLIC SPEAKING SKILLS

It takes a lot of courage to stand up in front of an audience and speak. It is daunting and scary, but Presidium works towards confidence building with regular stage exposure. A plethora of public speaking activities like ‘Show and Tell’ are conducted for the students of grades Nursery and Prep. ‘Show and Tell’ creates opportunities for students to grow and develop oratory and language skills, self-esteem, social skills and even creativity. The students spoke wonderfully and confidently on the topics which were in tandem with their ongoing curriculum. It was a great learning experience for the students.

Learning is a process that lasts throughout our lifetime. A human being is always a student and keeps learning from the things around them. This process continues from the moment we are born till we take our last breath. To celebrate this spirit of learning and acknowledging the student within all of us, Presidium Palam Vihar celebrated World Students’ Day. The day is celebrated on the birthday of our Missile Man, Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam. A special assembly was conducted where the students celebrated the life and work of our great scientist and President Dr Kalam. The assembly highlighted the special bond shared between students and teachers. Students beautifully extended their gratitude to their Gurus and displayed skills taught to them in a distinctive manner.

Dussehra is a festival that marks the victory of goodness over evil and to instill the qualities that helped Lord Rama triumph over Ravana among our students, Presidium Palam Vihar conducted a special assembly to celebrate Dussehra. The students enacted the Ramayana with great enthusiasm and excitement. The school choir sang bhajans in praise of Lord Rama. Towards the end of the assembly students were encouraged to imbibe values like respect, goodness, peace and loyalty from Lord Rama’s life.

PRESIDIANS SEEK BLESSING OF ‘NAVDURGA’ ON 'NAVRATRI'

Festival of Navratri is full of lights, joy and festivity celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm throughout India. As the name suggests, Navratri means nine nights and on the tenth day Goddess Durga is immersed in holy water after pooja. To celebrate the festival of Navaratri students of grade Prep conducted special Assembly wherein they spoke few lines telling everybody how and why Navratri is celebrated and how Goddess Durga and Lakshmi help people when they are in trouble. Presidians also performed the Garba Dance on the song ‘Nagada sang dhol baje’. Students were very excited and participated enthusiastically.

BEST OUT OF WASTE ACTIVITY: PRESIDIANS LEARN THE CONCEPT OF REUSE

Best out of Waste activity encourages students to reuse unused products and teach them the importance of resources and their optimum utilisation. Keeping this in mind, the Academy for creativity, 'Out of the Box' organised an Intra-class Best out of waste competition for students of grade 1 to 3 wherein students enjoyed their work and came up with different ideas to reuse things. They prepared very creative and innovative models and art items from different waste materials. The activity enhanced creative skill of the students and imbibed values like preservation, recycling, optimum utilisation, reduce and reuse while undertaking the noble act of caring for the environment.
